Provisional programme for the 30th Anniversary in Bellême 21-24 May 2010

The Twinning Association plans to take a coach in the day time on Friday 21 May and return on Monday 24 May, returning to Goring in the late evening.

The cost for the coach and ferry crossing will be £75 (Child £40) per head.

Based on the response to date we have now booked a 90 seater coach. Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

See details below.

Friday 21 May evening: arrival of visitors from Goring and distribution to host families

Saturday morning – Welcome

10:00 am -  Photo exhibition of business as it is now in Bellême, Goring and Stühlingen – the aim is to show the other villages their similarities and differences. This will be in the Salle de Pilier (gallery in the Porch)

Coach tour around the villages in the Commune.

During the tour, we will stop for a picnic lunch in the grounds of a château

Whilst this is taking place the young people of Bellême will organise a treasure hunt for the visiting children

Saturday approx 4 pm to 6 pm: the Official Ceremony

Three chairman to do a short speech at the Ceremony in a language other than their own.

Evening supper (la Guinguette) – old fashioned public dinner dance with accordion (from 1910/20) waltzes etc. Origins – Parisians went to the riverbank bars and cafés to eat and dance to accordion music. Professional dancers will instruct us! Plus up-to-date music for the young.

Sunday

Mass – Bellême would like us to bring some singers from the choir to sing 1 or 2 songs during the Mass.

Also taking place this weekend is a commercial food and wine fair in Bellême, including stalls from all over France. This will take place in the Salle de Fêtes and the Place de l’Europe.

11:30 – Kermesse – a village fair – with stalls and games; we have been invited to take a traditional English game e.g. shove ha'penny, bat the rat etc. for people to play. People will get points for playing each game and there will be a prize for highest score.

Goring Twinning will be taking a publicity stand with information about Goring and District (in French and German).

Monday midday – departure of the English coach
