The Twinning Joint Committee Meeting was held in Goring over the weekend of 21 to 22 July 2007
A group of some 50 French visitors from Bellême arrived for a weekend at the end of July.
As well as the French Twinning Committee, the Bellême visitors included a Dance Group, the Tourist Office and a Geneology Group.
The broad agenda for the weekend was as follows, but all did not go to plan as can be seen in the report:
Saturday 21 July
- ~08:30 - Arrival of French at Goring Village Hall
- ~9:00 onwards - Morning with host families or exploring Goring and Streatley.
- ~11:30 onwards - Afternoon at the Goring Regatta. The Twinning Association will have a stall selling Crepes. The Bellême Tourist Office will also have a stall and the Dance Group will participate in the main arena.
- 19:30 Evening entertainment at Goring Village Hall with a Sing Along and supper included.
Sunday 22 July
- 10:00 - Joint Twinning Committee meeting in the Goring Information Centre. The dance group will entertain at an OAP home?
- 12.00 - Vin d’Honneur for all the French and hosts, committee members and guests
- 13.00 - Lunch with families
- 15.00 onwards - Visit to Henley Rowing Museum and stroll round Henley itself (also the scene of another well known Regatta!). The Goring & Streatley Concert Band will be playing opposite the Museum.
- 19.00 - Communal Buffet Supper at Goring Village Hall
Monday 23 July
- 06:00 - Departure of French for the boat from Portsmouth
